Computer Next to Gas Tank .. Is it Safe?

Moderators Please move If I am in the Wrong Place...

Ok So I FOUND the Perfect place For my Carputer....

The only problem Is it is Right next to The Gas Tank....

Do you think that it will be a problem?

It looks like it is just the Fill Neck and The Actual Tank is under the Car...

But I just want to be safe and Make Sure....

I will be making the case out of 3/4th Mdf..

No problem. That's just the fill neck, as the actual tank is under the car...right next to the exhaust pipe. Also, the fuel tank itself likely has an electric fuel pump SUBMERGED in or hanging just above the gasoline. The key, as usual, is in proper design.

Make sure to properly secure any box you build to the trunk floor...50 lbs. sliding around in your trunk with every turn is much more of a concern than a gas tank explosion.

Also...you live in The Colony? I'm there quite frequently, as I have family there. Have you checked out the North Texas Meet thread (linked in my sig below)?

My car was designed by Ford with the battery sitting roughly where your PC will go. The fuel filler is on that side too. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

correct me if im wrong, but isnt there a barrier of sheet metal between the trunk and the fuel filler? Unless you plan on drilling on that side, its perfectly safe.
