Hooked up my new VoomPC and sound is HORRIBLE!!

I just changed from a SolidLogic C158 Mini-ITX to a VoomPC-2 case so I could use the front audio cables instead of a DAC. BIG Mistake. There is so much noice that comes in through those front audio cables it would drive me crazy. You hear a heart beat and alot of white noise. I had to go back to the DAC setup.

Does anyone have a VoomPC-2 hooked up without sound problems?

I'm using the intel D201GLY2A M/B with the Voompc-2 case and front audio cable. To my surprise, not only does the internal audio sounds good, but there isn't any noise when nothing is playing. I'm truly surprised, as this is my third carpc setup and I thought for sure I'd have to reuse my USB external soundblaster.

Do you really think that it is the mobo? Thats a pretty cheap one. I am almost tempted to buy it just to test it.

I've found most noise problems are traced back to a poor ground or the "infamous" ground loop................

But if a DAC works for you, I'm not sure why you would want to switch over to RCA cables. I usually find the poor ground results in something sending signal down the ground side of the RCA.

Not saying that's your specific problem, just a possibility..........

    Cheers

I used a PAC ground loop isolator on my 1st carpc (VIA SP13000), and it removed all the strange hard drive, computer noises, and alternator noise. Maybe a simple ground loop isolator would help? I'm still using the ground loop isolator in all my carpc setups because it helps tremendously.

Any particular reason why you want to abandon your DAC setup?
