how about a USB->serial adapter?
I have a only one serial port on my carputer and i was wondering if their is a whay i could use the parrallell port to conect the ir receiver ? ...

Maybe, but you will need a UART to connect the two, and probably need to make use of the MODE command to remap the ports. But I doubt it will work.
USB to serial is doubtfull as well, since the PB remote software is terrible and almost hard coded to use COM2 (almost).
