Random BSOD's, Please Help me figure this out!

Im running XP and lately I've been getting BSOD's at random, but they are always the same.

The BSOD is Kernel Data Inpage Error and the file its referring to is win32k.sys

This has been happening almost every day. When the computer restarts I almost always get a disk boot failure. insert system disk and press enter error.

After several reboot attempts it finally finds the hard drive and reboots. After this whole thing happens a few times, the computer will not boot with an error saying the registry is corrupt in system32\config\SYSTEM

After restoring the drive via ghost image I am back in business, but only for a day or so.

    _____

Everything I've read say's its RAM, so I ran memtest86 twice and got no errors. Im suspecting the hard drive - but it is less than a year old and passes testing with WD Diagnostic tools. Right now I am putting another drive in and seeing what happens.

Anybody have any information about this? Could it be motherboard/processor related? Could it be related to power supply issues?

    Any input is appreciated.

Sounds very much like a harddrive issue.

It could be anything. Could even be a USB device bouncing around and when it bounces it reconnects/connects and faults some crappy dll that freezes it. Like I said, it could be anything.

But I would assume the HD or PSU. If you are overloading your PSU then when it draws too much the voltage will spike/drop and RAM will go bye-bye and create a BSOD.

I up this thread for the same thing.

I always use RR, now it's about 2 week that I try Centrafuse, and everytime i have random a bsod.
This bsod appear only with Centrafuse, not with RoadRunner!
I've also random crash of the system with no reason.. no 100% cpu, no ram overflow.
This always only with Centrafuse, not with RoadRunner!
    What can be?

Thanks and sorry for my english.

Do a clean install of XP instead of using the restore disk. Could be a driver issue. Check if your motherboard has bad capacitors (bulging, leaking).

" disk boot failure. insert system disk and press enter"

This error is often associated with the boot order in your system BIOS configuration. When the BIOS is set to boot from another device where system files cannot be found, the pc doesn't know what to do next.

A failing hard drive sector could also be the culprit. Nevertheless, ensure that the boot order is set properly, to boot from the drive where windows is installed.

leen15, the error you have is a little more difficult to troubleshoot.

Just as toaster mentioned, the error could be a result of many different things. In the same token, I often see the error associated with unsigned drivers having an incompatibility on certain software. Updating your device drivers may alleviate the BSOD.

You could even have a stick of memory going bad, or perhaps the RAM is not properly seated in the motherboard causing an invalid system memory address to be referenced.

Furthermore, defective memory, including main memory, L2 RAM cache, video RAM or incompatible software including remote control and anti virus software might cause this Stop message.

Test the system memory using memtest, referenced in the link below:
    http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...ardware_Tshoot

Check the hard drive for bad sectors by running chkdsk /f /r

Check the System log of Event Viewer for Error Reports.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer.

Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager?

Right click on the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties, Hardware, Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code?

You may also, try Start, Run, type "sigverif.exe" without quotes and hit OK to see what drivers are listed as unsigned? Disregard those which are not checked, and update the ones which are unsigned by going to the device manufacturer's support page to download the latest drivers.

Also try running chkdsk /r in the Windows recovery console repair area or in Safe Mode with Command Prompt. That's saved my skin countless times!

Project λ^2 (Lambda Squared or Lambda II)

I have no clue what's going on anymore!!!

If I have time, I'll update it. College is a pain in my arse.

    i'll come back!
    So, i tried:
    - all test for memory and hdd from ubcd (good)
    - chkdsk /f /r (no errors)
    - Event Viewer, no error reports
    - device manager, no yellow questions
    - sigverif.exe , no unsigned drivers...

the only way is format ?
I hope that format will resolve the problem...
