Poor audio quality Xenarc MDT-X7000?

I know a few guys out there have the MDT-X7000 and I'm curious what sort of experience it's been. Here is the rundown of what I have.

I'm running a Chrysler 300c with the Boston Acoustics premium audio package. That means there is an amp in dash, with speakers already wired. To talk to that I have to have (or I believe I do) a Metra CHTO-01 wiring harness. This links my stereo (the xenarc in this case) to the in car audio system. The CHTO-01 I have is listed as being version 1.2. The power wires are all linked, and the Audio is being fed using the amp outs on the xenarc connected to the proper ports on the harness.

I have the xenarc wired up to the harness, and the harness hooked to the car. Everything powers on and does what it needs to do. The problem I'm having is with audio quality. The audio is very quiet. With the stereo at half volume I get a really soft sound. The audio is also very dull. Meaning I'm missing a ton of range. No low end at all, it's like my base is just gone. Everything is really muddled. Changing volume on the xenarc is really odd too, as I'm turning it down the audio does not progress quieter it seems to hang at one volume and then shift all at once. I don't know if this is a clue to the problem or just the way the unit works.

I'm not sure if this is a fault of the xenarc, or the harness I have. If I crank the volume on the xenarc things just get distorted. They do get a little louder but no where near the volume I had with stock, and still really poor quality range.

I was testing the system using the DVD drive and a CD. I don't have the PC setup just yet, but as a stand alone player the Xenarc should be able to play a CD without issue.

I'm wondering if anyone else is running the xenarc as a stand alone head unit feeding their system. Any luck with that? If your doing something different how does it work in your ride? Any input is welcome, I'm a little over my head on this part of it. Thanks for the help.

For what it's worth my problem was with the harness. The gain needed to be increased to send the proper signal. Once adjusted sound quality got better. Now the only problem that remains is the one where you have to switch in and out of PC mode each time to get the xenarc to transmit sound. I'm contacting them direct for a fix on that issue.

Hi. Which gain is needed to be increased? I have the same problem. Another problem I have is that the sound cuts out, for a second or so, each time I press down the clutch :/

same here i have an audi with bose/concert hu. i have the pc and all hooked up. major issue is sound quality. no bass at all. volume delay is bad and the fade and ballance are all screwd. the gain adjustment sounds tryable could you elaborate on the how to or where to?
