    QUESTIONS:

1.) How does this DAC compare to the Emu 0404?

2.) How will the bloat drive 300 ohm impedance headphones like the Senn. 580/600?

3.) What's the return policy for this "special order" item? (i.e. days to return? restocking fee?, etc)

4.) Can one choose the Burr Brown OPA2107 upgrade option instead of the Analogue Devices AD8620 upgrade since it says in the Hippo FAQ that the 2107 is better for rock?....

I'm interested in purchasing one of these for my CarPC setup, but I just have a few questions:

    1) Does the Bloat produce any sort of "thump" when it initialises?

    2) Does it come with ASIO compatible drivers? If not, is it supported by the ASIO driver available at http://www.usb-audio.com/ ?

    3) If I were to buy 2, would it allow 4 channel output using Centrafuse (ie front and rear)? If not, how I would go about connecting a single unit to my 4-ch amp?

    4) Does it have any problems resuming from a suspend or hibernate?

    5) How much current does it draw?

    Thanks,
    Steve

I generally dont comment on how the Bloat performs against other DACs, I will leave that up to customers...

The original design goal was to drive 580s/600s, but has since got a massive carputer following. FYI, I can offer a 3.5mm out as part of this group buy, but this is by special request only. Please confirm with me if you want this prior to buying it.

    The usual warranty applies:

1 year warranty on parts and labour, HIPPOhifi pays for shipping.

AD8620's are the only option for the group buy. The AD8620's plays rock music just as well, I need to update that FAQ...

I may want to cancel my order so I can utilize my Elite Pro as a digital transport and get true 24-bit, how can I do this (if I decide to)?

Currently using a Auzentech X-Meridian. Getting sick of a 3.5mm stereo connector as it's so finiky. Before i make the switch though.

My X-Meridian has 5VRMS Preouts. I find it is WAY to hot for volum control. One volume button push would be a huge gain in volume.

So i lower the WAV to about half way to lower the output then control the volume with MASTER.

Obviouslly this isn't possible with this DAC if it just controls WAV. What is people's take on this? Id love some input. Are people finding this DAC controlable or is it too hot also with the 4VRMS?

Do you want to keep volume control exclusive to the operating system or would you be willing to use a passive device like a POT to attenuate to a useful gain range. You can also get a JL Audio CL-RLC (which should take the Bloats 4 volts) and control all you volume through it instead of the OS (you would need an amp or processor with the ability to receive a high input voltage though, or be VERY careful with the RLC volume dial).

Too many options need more details on your setup.

Obviouslly with my concerns I want to control the volume from my CarPC (touchscreen). My CarPC feeds into an Audiocontrol DQXS into my JL 300/4 and JL 500/1.

I could control the volume elsewhere but I wan't to control it on the CarPC.
