Head Unit Help (about to press the order key)

Ok, I am looking at a pioneer 4400 (http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?...de=piodehp4400) and using this adapter (http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...0CDRB10&o=&a=0) to connect my mp3 player to the head unit. What do you all think? Any other suggestions or should I hit the order key?

I am a big fan of Pioneer. I am using one of their Chrysler perfect fit units with that same adapter in my truck. Its been working beautifully for a couple years now, and my head unit even allows me to name the Aux input, so it now says MP3 PC whenever I'm running it.

Thats the same head unit that I have been looking at for a few months. I really like it, ...but damn thats an expensive cable. Does the box contain electronics or is it just a mount for the rca plugs? If its just a box, has this Pioneer's pin layout been hacked so I could just make my own?

o Nokia n800 on the way.
o Crappy Sony head unit that needs replacing (but it has 3 sets of pre-outs and aux in)
o Progress to come after I fix some of my car's mechanical issues.

that adapter from pioneer plugs in to the ip bus connector, so unless you have that special connector, you won't be able to hack it.

There are hacks for the input...But why bother. For $30 it's done no mess no hassle. I have the Pioneer DEH4300 from a couple of years ago and it's still going strong. One thing I wish I did was buy the Premier 430 at the time. It was only $20 more but it came with three RCA outs instead of 2 and I think they were 4V instead of 2.2??? I think...You can get the sound more "centered" when using Front and rear w/ a Sub.

This is my second Pioneer (my first was a DEH-M75)I love the Pioneer but some would argue.

I also have an 'old' Premier, going strong (couple of years old)...and it was nice to have a no hassle hookup to the RCA jacks. I even renamed the input 'MP3 Player" (thanks to Arby I think)
