for a small screen it would be easiest to go with a PS1 LCD, there have been some good deals on some of the non-sony brand ones. do a search for ps1 lcd and you'll find lots of info.

The screen acepts a ntsc signal, so all you need is to get a vga to ntsc convert (more expensive) or just buy a new cheap video card with tv out. Here is one:
