    AM/FM PC recievers?

    Hey,

I know there are plenty of USB/Serial/etc FM radio recievers for the PC, but are there any that recieve AM as well? I thought I had seen one a while back but I can't remember the brand. Does anyone know it?

This card is supported under both Linux and Windows (I did some checking).

I just ordered one late last night. That might have been a mistake. It is an ISA card, and I cannot find an ITX MB that will support an ISA card. Any ideas?

Depends how bad you want AM, or should I say how much are you willing to pay.

Down side: I think its like 300 bucks or something.

    New ICOM Receiver PCR100

The ICOM pcr1000 is around $390, but ICOM has a new am/fm/wfm receiver for $289.

    http://hamshop.net/PCR.htm

Icom IC-PCR100 Communications Receiver for Computer

Continuous coverage from .1000 to 1300.000 Mhz. (cellular blocked)
    Multi-mode FM, AM, WFM
    1000 memory channels
    Control via PC Software

The cool thing about this receiver is that:

    1. It is external, so the AM reception is good.
    2. It can receive more than just regular radio signals, it can also receive marine radio, noaa weather radio, etc.
    3. It is almost affordable for a carputer.

That would've made it worth $300.

You can buy one from Canada if you want to listen in on cellular RF transmissions.

The PCR 1000 is ~400, the PCR100 is ~300 although I have seen it for as low as $225 used.

So this should be able to pickup all Fire, Police and Emerancy channels as well, Correct?

hmmm, I was thinking about adding a scanner to my setup but this might work even better.

Too much $$ for me right now, but maybe not for someone else.
