99 Passat radio AM won't come in

My 99 Passat radio won't play on AM and not so good on FM. I think the antenna or antenna wire is defective. How do these get the antenna out? Thanks. rchild@rochester.rr.com.

Do you have an aftermarket stereo in your VW? If so you need to get a powered external antenna adapter for it. Check out www.enfig.com good guys over there.

It is the stock radio.

Yeah your headunit might be defective then. Check out the classified forums on forums.vwvortex.com People are always selling their stock units there cheap.

I'm pretty sure it's the antenna wire. Is there an easy to take off the roof antenna? I ordered the radio remover clips to take out the radio and check from that end.
