I am sorry if I do not understand this but, you are saying that the 40pins include audio and we do not need to connect the remaining 6 pins to anything?
Well you don't need to connect anymore the analog output signal to your sound card…I am sorry if I do not understand this but, you are saying that the 40pins include audio and we do not need to connect the remaining 6 pins to anything?
You can play Audio CD in Windows with just the IDE cable 40 pin
It’s even better to do it this way… (No redundant analogue to digital)
I am using all my drive like this…
Go ahead with this slim slot in DVD from yourdrive and this adapter from allmac it’s a really good setup! (I like it…)
Just connect it like this:

Just plug PIN IDE N°40 -> Adaptor PIN N°50 that's really really easy...
Note I am using those drive....THEY WORK FINE.
Thanks!! I am going to try itOriginally posted by PTCruiser

i lloked around on ebay and found a drive that came with the adapter board and the apple cable. the apple cable works the same way , just uses the 40 pins it needs and the rest are left open. as af as power goes solder some wires on as described in this thread and it works great.
I got a great deal on my drive. $30 with adapter board and cable on ebay. They are out there cheap if you look.
