How can I change the Intel splash screen that comes up while booting? I just want it to be plain black. I downloaded the Intel integrator toolkit but I don't know where my bios files are located, so I cant open it and edit the image.

It is possible, it just takes a lot of tries to get the timing right so the drive is actually on by the time the bios queries the device.
I've done two setups now using this board and a usb optical drive. Worked fine, first time.

You will need to download the latest BIOS revision from the Intel website and open that with the toolkit. You can't pull the BIOS from the machine with the toolkit to be edited.
I installed my carpc into my pet Kangaroo, mate.

Easiest thing is to download the Bios files from intel.

You will have to use the following file
Iflash BIOS Update / Integrator Toolkit BIOS Files [LF94510J.86A.0140.BI.ZIP]

Thanks mate, Is there a particular size the image needs to be? I run my screen at 800x600

Glad you got it to work. I did see an update on the BIOS notes in November that said it fixed an issue with USB drives not able to boot

Any how I thought I'd try one more time before getting on the blower to intel. Here's how it went...

First I tried connecting my USB DVD to my Acer Aspire One netbook to double check that the drive is working correctly. Coincidently my Acer has the same Atom cpu and very similar motherboard, which could give further clues regarding compatibility. The USB DVD works and my netbook booted straight into Windows XP installation. Nothing is wrong with the external drive therefore.

Back to my carputer build. Same as before, nothing happens and machine will not boot to external drive. One last attempt before getting on the phone. I CTRL ALT DELETE instead of powering down the psu and hey presto we're into windows setup. I don't know why or how this worked - I had tried the same thing a number of times previously.

So windows has nearly finished formatting my HD and it looks like we're in business. Watch this space.

We are glad to hear you we were able to answer your questions. We also appreciate the feedback regarding "Linux boot and a general faster boot". We will take it into consideration."

Perhaps if enough people contact them they will address this problem

I also contact them about the slow boot issue, but never got any responce.
My slow boot problem is comming up when I use the PCI slot.

When I remove my ATI VGA card systems start 's up in 25 seconds.

Can you give me a link where you placed your request??

Clearly there is a problem with USB drives but I also had
similar issues with several IDE drives.

Glad to say I have everything installed now but not without quite a bit of hassle. Many thanks to everybody that helped me out.

Has anyone managed to use the TV-Out functionality for second monitor connection. Which ping on the connector has the Composite Video output. Please guide.

    Updates to first post.

I updated the first post to answer the above question as it seems to be recurring and it vexed me for a while to.

If any of you who have learned the ins and outs of this board, have anything you feel should go in the first post, send it to me in a PM and I will update it.
