MSI Fuzzy 945GM1 MB dead?
Switched from a Jetway J9F2 to an MSI 945GM1. The whole host of problems I had with the Jetway (not recognizing video, not starting up, etc) went away.
For about a month the MSI booted perfect, everything worked as it should (hibernated, resumed, worked well).
Using the car the other day, shut it off, when I came back and started car, stuck on NAV screen and no response (T/s, keyboard or mouse). Reboot = black screen with mouse cursor, reboot ==> nothing, no video.
Bring it inside house, hook up to brick PSU and CRT, no video (no post, no beeps, fan spins up and stays runnig, no lights on keyboard). Pull HD cable (to see if it posts with the error), same thing. Pull Memory, same thing. Put meter on PSU, 12V and 5V in and out, lights normal on PSU. Fans (CPU, and 2 case fans) all spinning. Not sure if HD are spinning up (cant feel anything with fans running). Tried regular CRT on VGA and tried LCD on DVI, no video. So where are now is, it starts when power hits the white line on PSU, fans spin up but nothing else happens (no beeps, no post on video, no apparent HD activity, no keyboard lights) fans stay running like they used to.
Im thinking the MB is fried.
Anyone have problems with this MB? Do they generaly last well?
Not that I think it will help, but I know someone is gonna ask so : CoreDuo, 2 gigs ram, 40gig system HD, M3 ATX PSU, WIn XP SP3 (full), using onboard video and sound. Xenarc IDT 700 (running off of PSU), dedicated 20A line into psu and ground is through OEM groundpack to frame. Front end = Centrafuse.
The Jetway was a capeable board but it didnt work out for me (not reliable), its all in my post history. Went through two of those, just wanted a reliable MB. Switched over to the MSI.
I will appreciate any comments on the MSI boards expected longevity or problems others have had with it.
Anyone know the most popular MB used here? or a clear winner as far as reliability is concerned in the performance level appropriate for the hardware I outlined above?
