    Remote Start Fried? Car continously tries to start

    Couple weeks ago, I shut my car off, and the alarm started going off, and the remote start was grinding away.

    I had one of the nicest Python remote start systems (and alarm) installed. Friday night, I went out to my car, and my battery was dead. The battery was as hot as I could imagine it being without being on fire. I obviously did not want to jump start a battery that might have a short inside of some sort. I disconnected it, and the next day (yesterday) went and bought a new battery. As soon as I went to connect the new battery, the remote start tried to grind.

    I called my father, who has been a mechanic for over 30 years, and he removed the alarm/remote start. We tried to connect the battery and same thing. He removed the ignition switch connection, and the start relay, and each time, touching the negative to the battery the starter would grind.

    He has it on a lift right now, examining what could be connected to the starter line making it "hot".

    Has anyone ever seen or heard of such a thing? Could this be a malfunction in the 2007 Corolla? My guess of course is the workmanship on the remote start installation. However, until my father calls me, as of now...he is shocked on what could be causing the line to be hot.

    Any experience/feedback is appreciated. I'm praying we can get this situated and get Toyota to fix any damage under warranty, but of course, if it's not their fault then they won't.

    Possible shorted starter solenoid (the one built into the starter) could have been that all along or it could have welded itself because it was constantly on so got hot. The thing to do would have been to check supplies to the starter before ripping out the alarm/remote start.

    The relay should not be hot though? The relay is removed. So some other wire, is making the starter wire hot (or something else).

    I think he is saying that all night as it was grinding away trying to start, that puts out an immense amount out of heat that could have fused it together mechanically because of the faulty remote start. So now your actual starter is no good.

    No it shouldn't under normal use but if for whatever reason its been jammed on it will get very hot, It could also symply be faulty and have welded itself. If the proper (high current) starter solenoid had been removed there is no way your starter can run simply because you physically have to take the starter apart to do it. I am not on about a relay in the dash. The starter solenoid is a physical part of the starter. It is where the large cable bolts to, if it has been removed there is nothing to bolt the cable too.
