I just really hate to see you guys give up knowing how good it CAN be.
its not necessary in my case.. i've hooked my hd unit up standalone as meant to be with no car pc running and the sound is clear as a bell. I KNOW its not an antenna issue here.. just interference

Ok, I will leave it at that, but remember, the antenna is powered by the head unit. If it works beautifully as standalone (guessing using a headunit and the fm modulator), then doesn't work without the head unit, that is a prime symptom of the antenna power.

I'm not trying to be argumentative here....I'm really not.....but a month ago I would be saying the EXACT same thing you guys are saying.....it can't be that. (be sure to see my editted post above)
    My opinion is my own.

Something else to consider in order to help narrow it down. If it is possible, hook your head unit back up. Then run the antenna into the visteon, then out to the head unit. Turn on the Visteon, then turn the head unit on and off. Scan stations on the Visteon with the head unit on, and then with the head unit off. If you get the same stations in both cases, then it's not the antenna. If you get more with the head unit on, then it is. A lot of work, but it could save you even more. Use the FM modulator for sound. Also have the computer running normally.

If interference is an issue, it would mean the antenna isn't wired properly inside the Visteon, so the interference would go through to the head unit.
    My opinion is my own.

confirmed it on GenVibe board. The blue/white 'Amp turn on' powers both the audio and ant. amps.

I'm gonna try putting the PSU in a metal case to see if it's interfering with the signal, which I dont think it is.

If all else fails......after that, send me a PM, I'll give you my address and you can send me the unit. I'll be happy to see if the problem is in the Visteon or somewhere else. The reason I don't suspect interference.....if you look at my pic above, my visteon is leaning on the computer, and right next to 2 fans. It has been leaning on 4 fans before without any issues. I used the Visteon to hold one of the fans in place.

I don't even have the Visteon grounded. It freefloats against the computer. The computer isn't grounded either. Just velcro'd to the shelf.

Ok, went back out and found a wire that runs along the ant. wire. It had a connector on it (One wire). So I disconnected that and it seems to come in a lot better. I'll let you know when I take it for a drive, but I'm getting stations in that would barely come in with it connected. Also, see if that cures the 'waiting' for the signal to come in like before. Cross your fingers AND toes!

Wow....that's opposite of what I had to do. That one wire, I think, is the one that needed 12v on mine. But the fact that you CHANGED something........that's a biggy. I'm guilty of the same thing, but we all did and are troubleshooting this in the wrong direction......

Rather than have a problem and work backwards to find it, we ALL should have hooked it up standalone, got it working good, then went through adding one thing at a time until we hit it. Would have saved me a fortune! lol

When you get a chance, and if you have a DVM, you might want to check the other side of that 1 wire plug and see if there is voltage there. Wonder if noise might have been going through there and to the amp, and when you unplugged it, you unplugged a lot of the "antenna" that was sending it there. If that's the case, 12v on that puppy and your golden!

Here is where I found the answers I was lookiing for.....

    http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...=6&catalogid=2

see that connector coming out of 6? That is that one wire you are talking about, and it goes to 5.

See if you can find that same diagram somewhere on the web for the Vibe.
