Wow, what an extremely helpful and insightful post. You're about on par though. Maybe try some punctuation and proper sentence forming. Then people may begin to take you seriously.

There's nothing wrong with that for a cell phone keypad text message, but a total waste of a full-sized keyboard.

So, it's best not to get a carl alarm? I did set up a camera from my apartment this past weekend. I parked my car next to one of their house when they were having a bbq on Monday. I saw them drinking beer next to my car and I ran to get my camera. Mounted it on a tripod but when I checked the tape I didnt catch anything.

Don't get tape. Connect your camera to your PC and run a DVR program. I do IT/CCTV so if you have any questions I'll try to help.

It may help, but who knows if the perpetrators are named Carl or not?

I think the DVR thing would be the way to go too.

With my experience, I have learned that not everything should be intergrated into the PC. Although I am confused why you posted in a computer based forum when it seems like your not going to be installing one, ill still throw my 2 cents in. Home Security systems now come with camera editions to watch the house, inside and out. If you want to have it monitired by professionals, you can go with ADT which will monitor it and you would have a option to view it on your own PC. I assume you try to always park near the apartment to keep an eye out. If you dont want to pay a monthly fee then buy a really good night vision camera mount it and connect a DVR to it. I went through the stats of the security system you pointed too and I think its impressive. I also like the fact that it sends the pictures to the remote, has the option for auto roll up on auto windows and auto start. You can also buy a module so you can connect to the system via PC (dont know how it works).

As far as putting a PC in the car and having a camera, I think its a bad idea.... First off, the battery would die unless you have a second battery setup, and second, what if they steal the CarPC too while its recording.... So not only will they get a new PC, they will also get the evidance that shows their guilty!!!!

I think an alarm of SOME sort would at least help deter anyone from trying to get into your car, unless they're really determined.

In really bad neighbor hoods a basic car alarm is worthless. Alot of the times people hear it and ignore it because they go off so much and they get use to hearing it. I would go for an advanced system.

    True dat.

Maybe something that blows flames from underneath the car... That would be awesome.

I want an alarm that locks the car down and then releases some form of knock out gas, so when the PoPo shows up, they have the intruder locked in the car...Pictures of the intent to steal would be nice also
