Carputer reduces range on factory keyless entry??

I've been noticing that my key FOB seems to have reduced range. I thought it might be the battery (on the key FOB) so Sear tested it for me and said its fine. So then I changed to my spare which I haven't used yet ('06 350z).

I have an M3-ATX PSU that delays hibernation for 30 minutes. It seems that if I manually hibernate the PC, the range comes back; otherwise its only about 6 feet from any direction.

The PC is in the "glove box" behind the passenger seat.

    Any ideas guys?

I seem to have the same issue.

I am not sure whether it is the wireless network or that I have changed PC and this one does not have a metal case.

Mine does too. If the computer is on, the fob only works within a few feet. If the computer is off, I have decent range.

I say immediately remove your pc from the car. It does not belong there. Who would put a computer in a car? Freaks!

I found my screen interfering with the GPS, radio, Bluetooth and Wifi as well.

Okay, thats good. I thought I was losing my mind for a second. I think for me it might be the 802.11g. I have had my carputer for about 2 years and Wifi for only about 6 months. That's when I started noticing it.

Do you guys all have the factory Keyless entry or aftermarket (viper, clifford, ect.)? Maybe an aftermarket will do better?

Or maybe since my Wifi is usb I should just run it to the rear end of the trunk?

    Thanks for your feedback.

Well I have had wifi for about 4 years, and the range has only been an issue in the last year. (I have changed my wireless from a PCI card to a USB one around about the same time)

I have also as I mentioned before changed the PC from a shielded metal cased one (ie OEM) to a custom one in a perspex case (no lid yet).

And also to take into account of the monitor observation that has been brought to the table I have added two VGA headrest monitors as well recently.

So that's 3 possible causes for me now
