Even with the energy saving features, it is still nowhere near as "green" as 2.5" laptop drives.
Do you think its worth the lost performance over the added energy savings?

hm its 75 for a 500gb or 150 for a 500gb.
new question being then is it worth the extra money for the energy savings?
haha

I would say no, unless you are running on battery for extended periods of time. Even then, the little bit of power savings is negligible compared to what other components are drawing, such as the cpu. However, the lower heat generation might be of interest.
As noted in another thread, I have one of these WD 500GB "Green" drives in our Denali and it works great driven off a M2-ATX and a Endura Core Duo 2GHz Motherboard. It's great to have all my mp3s and most of my DVD collection available for the longer trips.
YMMV...
