    Soundcard worth it?

I was just wondering, does anyone know if getting a dedicated soundcard is worth it?
Currently I'm using the onboard sound of a D201GLY2 Intel mobo. A friend told me that back in the early days of computing a soundcard would sound a lot better but these days most mobos sound just fine. This isn't exactly a full featured gamers mobo tho so I'm not sure.

If i get a soundcard it will probably have to be a Creative SoundBlaster Live USB as i don't really have an option of using the PCI bus due to the kind of case the mobo is in. "Ampie case"

Think it would sound better than the onboard sound?

    Yes.

A PCI card is doable as long as you get some sort of adapter that allows it to fit in your case. At the same time though, there is no space on the actual case for a PCI card, so you would not really have access to the card without taking the case apart.

Most people do USB sound cards anyway -- they're just easier.

appreciate it guys you were right.
Installed a SB Live USB and everything sounds a lot brighter. I'm sure it will be great once i get aftermarket speakers.
