I don't plan on using that slot, but i hope that it was just a bad board and not that all them will do that... otherwise they will have to recall them.

I have tried 4 boards with 2 different x-fi sound cards. I ordered my board from Dell, they offer the replacement 3 times with next businessday delivery free . I got the soundcard from Fry's, all hardwares are brand new. Finally gave up (Dell was unhappy they replace the same board on the 3rd time) and goes with the onboard sound.

oh, I called Intel and they told me it's not their problem. First they told me to call creative and have the make their cards compatible with the board, then they wanted me to try a different sound card, I asked are you going to replace my board if it die again, they said try it first, then we will see..., so I leave it as that. Warranty probably kick in, but I didn't want to wait a few weeks for them to do the replacement.

So the new bios update took care of the issue I was having where the bios POST screen would show twice...cut my boot time in half from this.

However, I still don't have any information in the hardware monitoring section of the BIOS...though, it doesn't completely lock up any more when I go into that section, like it would before.

Plan on testing hibernation and standby today some time. I wasn't able to get either to work at all before.
