Anyone ever used IDE flash memory instead of Compact flash with the adapter?
they say its bootable, so does that mean, no special things have to be done in order to install win xp on it?

Is that the same thing as a solid state drive? If so, many people on here use SSD's.

Im not sure. If you go to mini-itx.com. they list it as flash memory that is bootable. So im just wondering if I can just plug the sucker in an just start installing XP...or do I have to do it the old fashion way...install xp on a regular hard drive and then copy the os onto the IDE FLASH memory...

That's kind of overpriced for a 1gb. For about the same price you can get a 32gb transcend ssd on eBay.

that is a DOM, disk on module, its a very outdated flash technology.
You can get a better performing SSD for about 50 dollar more with 32gb capacity.

Yes, I run an 8Gb disk-on-module.

Correct, but you can still wear it out with writes. They generally cycle the allocation of the device to spread the wear around to extend lifetime.

OH, ok. I guess I will just get a SSD then. Fact is that I didnt want to corrupt my booting harddrive with too much data. Just the bare minimum...win Xp, drives and frontend and what ever else is necessary and use a portable hard drive to have all my music and videos..etc....
