Thread: D201GLY2 Slow POST

there is either a lot of dreamers on here or a lot of these mobos with a problem, be it either setup or hardware, cause mine has now picked up a new symptom on top of 20 second POST. It now hangs on Intel screen till I press a key, then it progresses to resume screen where it moves about 1/2" then again hangs still I press a key. This is with a usb keyboard.

How can one board boot and load windows faster than aonther of the same model can pass POST?

I had a D201GLYA and I also had that problem of the BIOS hanging for a while too. I never found a solution and upgraded to a core2duo board

it seems latest bios is 0148of Oct 08 and has fixed a fair few issues... Must re-flash

will definately check the latest version of the bios and report back any update. I have had the issue of the hanging at the Intel screen occasionally but the only times it has happened was when it was really cold outside, but when warm the issue has never occured and it reverts back to the slow POST

Oops - you're right. My sense of time is waaay off (they say that is the first thing to go). I timed it today. From power-on to Road Runner operating was 52 seconds.

It took 13 seconds from power on until I got the Intel screen. After that, it was about 25 seconds or so until desktop and it went pretty quick to RR after that.

Thanks NibbleIT, I appreciate it. I guess I could have simply not corrected the error, or being an admin I could have deleted the post and gotten rid of the error so nobody could see that I made a mistake but there you have it, I made a spurious claim and felt like I ought to correct it.

Technically, of course, it isn't a 52 second boot. The system autostarts Road Runner so after boot it has to load and initialize the front end and begin operation. But it's true, the boot is probably twice as long as I posted if not longer. Sorry about that.

And, since you attacked me personally by not only calling me a name that I'm pretty sure you wouldn't if we were face to face, but doing it twice and deleting one of the posts, I suppose I could give you a warning for flaming but that would be vindictive since I am the object of your attack. Instead, I'll remind you of the terms of service for this forum and ask kindly that you not use personal attacks against either myself or other members.

Lol - you made 2 posts about 2 weeks ago which were at best mis-leading. Do you not think people reading these forums would take you at your word believing a 15 second boot was possible and may even go out and buy one based on the info you posted. Others may have wasted time trying to achieve the impossible.

You should take my comment on the chin in the light-hearted way it was intended & perhaps in the future think before you speak.
