    Hi,

I have received m LS-373 for my new project.
I aim to use this configuration :
    - Core 2 Duo Mobile T9400 2.53GHz 6M 1066 PGA Penryn Embedded (bought-received)
    - 2GB DDR3 Kingston (bought-received)
    - Windows 7 French (Trial)

I would like find the tiniest solution for now.

I am thinking to replace my dead 2.5" MTRON SSD (It died during a traval on holidays - I have to find the invoice in order to make RMA-) by a SSD 50mm PATA mini PCI-Express made by RUNCORE :

Really tiny but low speed :
Sustain Read Speed up to 78MB/s
Sustain Write Speed up to 44MB/s

Exists other newer models (more speed / SATA MODE) but are in 70mm version and not fit in LS-373 :

The website do not precise if it works with Windows 7.

I can't wait for future models.

LS-373 work with Win7 (I have win7 in my carpc)...
BUT be carefull with mini pci devices!!! Im not shure if this socket support SSD!!! It is designed to use with some expansion board and not for UMTS cards so maybe SSD will not work as must... You can try. Im haveing problems with my UMTS card which have build in SIM socket and they are send me one BIOS which is optimized for UMTS card(Disabled some connections on socket) but it is not fix working problems... So Im modify UMTS card and cut few connection on it...
If you have money you can try this SSD but maybe is better that you first ask Commell support team if they are test SSd on mini pci express socket...

    Regards, _Dejan_

    Hi Dejan,

I have contacted COMMELL support to ask them.

    Waiting for answer.

Could you give me all your stuff pluged on your LS-373 + WIN 7 that works?

I bought a mini pci-E WIFI Link 5300 B/G/N from Intel but it can't works under WIN 7!

Need your experience in order to avoid bad purchases like I did.

    Thank you.

IMPRESSIVE FAST REPLY FROM COMMELL :

    BUT I CAN'T WORK !!

    ME :
    Hi,
    [...]
I would like change my 2.5’’ SSD HDD by a smaller one. The storage has to be bootable.
I have found that it exists mini PCI-Express SSD made for ASUS EEE PC and DELL MINI 9 netbook.
RUNCORE is the manufacturer : RunCore Pro 50mm PATA Mini PCI-e PCIe SSD

    Here is the link :
    http://www.runcorestore.com/ProductD...017-1234802357
I asked a reseller if this product could work on other motherboards (neither ASUS and DELL).

    Here is their answer :

    Dear Customer,
We check that this item is only fit to Dell mini9. Therefore, it may not compatible for your Commell motherboard.
Thank you for your interest in our item. If you have any enquiries, please feel free to contact us.
    Best regards,
    Peter

I will try to understand why it couldn’t work (special BIOS needed ?)
I would like to ask you because you have the experience :
Do you know mini PCI or mini PCI-Express SDD that could fit to my LS-373 ?

I will post your answer to MP3CAR forum opened thread to inform all other interested membres.

    Thank you for your help.

    Brice.

    COMMELL :
    Dear Sir ,
    LS-373 can't support RUNCORE PCI-Express SSD module ,
Because all of them are PATA or SATA interface , not PCI-Express interface .

    ME :
Thank you for your really fast reply.
I know that you have in the past made specifical BIOS for customers.
Could it work with a special BIOS update ?
If not, do you know mini PCI or mini PCI-Express SDD that could fit to the LS-373 motherboard ?
    Thank you.

    COMMEL :
    Dear Sir ,
It's related to hardware design issue , not BIOS issue ..
And we don't see any Mini-PCI SSD module which with PCI Express interface in the market .
