That is why I say use IDE in the car.You will never max out the bus, and the connector will not come loose.
As to secure what you have, cables are cheap so why not.
it loses contact causing skipping and sometimes shutting off or going into pio mode.
3rd cable ive tired and the lastest is a locking one.
got better but acting up again now, funny cuz my sata drive before it was never a problem so maybe its just on the harddrive side...
anyways think i should hot glue it?

yea, but wheres a tb ide harddrive.
haha
just worried that it will never come apart again without having to use a heat gun or something, or if the drive gets really hot might melt it at the connector, tho it is a WD "green" drive.

It shouldnt get that hot. At worst the glue will get gooey and it will be the same as what you have now.
And a 1Tb HD in the car isnt the best either since all +400Gb drives are vertical platters, which are much easier to become damaged on bumps. Horizontally aligned memory can take more brusing before it becomes invalid.

sata has got to be the worst cable in the world , stupid thing is as loose as hell, switching to pata soon...unless someone comes up with a solution..
Perhaps something that latches?
Like these: http://www.startech.com/category/cab...bles/list.aspx
sata cables I got fit snug.
got a 5" left angle/straight with latches for less than 3bux.
No excess cables in the small case.
already got the latching kind, happens less often but still happens

Same here, my Sata cables fit really snug, infact its a battle to get them off the MoBo, HDD and DVD rom. The only thing that feels loose is the Sata power connector, but so far that hasnt come off either.

hot glue is fine, you dont need to cover it totally, just pop a small bit on each side of the plug, then you can bleak it off easy if you need to.
or 3 blobs, you might as well secure teh power on too while you are there, in case its that![]()
