Don't know if this will help or not but over at www.byoac.com they have a keybpard emulator for home brew arcade machines (addicting let me tell you). Anyhow, this is the one I use:

    http://www.ultimarc.com/ipac1.html

It plugs in between your keyboard and computer and you can map keys for the buttons to emulate. Nice thing is you can use any kind of switch you like once it's connected.

Theres a wealth of info at byoac about switches too. Just cruise around a bit and you can find different kinds of switches. I warn you though, much like carputers this can be a bit of a black hole from whence you may not be able to return.

    Hope that helps some.

i dont want to use the keyboard hack cus the keys "z" and "b" are not what i want to use (and the keys won't work unless winamp is the active window)

i also don't really want my car to look like an arcade with those buttons lol.

all i'm looking for are actual buttons, yet everyone keeps saying "you can use any button" well then SHOW ME SOME.

If you use a program like Girder, then the keystrokes will work no matter IF winamp is the active or not.

Did you bother looking at my link?

There's at LEAST a dozen buttons.

This is why people don't like helping newbies.

    Damn.

And you don't have to use arcade buttons with the iPac, you can use any button you find. You just use it to emulate you keyboard so you don't have to9 hack it.

the 5 or so "buttons" in your link are SWITCH buttons that stay down when activated and come back up when you press it a second time to de-activate it. i'm looking for actual buttons. just a normal press and release.

google search for buttons then... i momentary switch acts as a button... you just need one that pushes in instead of a side to side throw.

Those are just a few examples... just bc they say switch doesnt mean its not a button. Now if your looking for something that will seamlessly blend into your cars interior then consider using steering wheel controls or buy factory buttons from the dealer. These are 100% buttons - only activated while pressed and do not stay on when released.

We were all noobs at one time looking for "easy answers" but you need to do a little more of your own research to find the specifics of what you want. We showed you buttons, if you don't like them search the web more or go to your local hobby shop and browse around.
