    2 headunits, 1 amp?

I was curious about how one would go about connecting two head units to one amplifier without causing damage.. I have an Eclipse 54400 cd headunit that I would like to keep using, but ive seen cheap tape decks that have AUX-IN for like $30 and this would be a great way to get the quality sound of a direct aux-in connection.

Is this feasable, and if so what would be needed?

    Thanks

    -Lee

Yes you can do it, get a "Y" adapter.

The problem would be volume control, you wont have a crossfade.

    Code:
              AMPLIFIER
                     |
                     |
                    /\ <----Y adapter
                   / \
                  / \
                 / \
                / \
               / \
              / \
           CD Tape deck

You'll probably fry both decks' preouts by doing that. Ive seen it happen before. First deck should goto second deck's AUX in. Second deck then go to the amp. If you got decks with no AUX in, then you need to build a RCA switcher. I can build you one for a fee if you're interested. PM me

Yea I wouldn't do the direct connect either.

You could run the output of one to the input of the other(if it has inputs)

Or you can buy a mixer (small portable) or build a mixer. If neither head units have input, then get the mixer.

    Try this:

    Code:
    (0) to AMP
     |
     |--------
     | |
    / /
    \ \ 100 Ohms
    / /
    \ \
     | |
     | |

    CD Tape deck

Use 1/4 watt resistors and you'll be ok.
