You can make your own, Just buy a Pioneer slot DVD and a 5.25" external USB2.0 enclosure
Can anyone recommend a good external dvd rom, preferably slot-loading? USB2 would also be a plus.

If you have a Shuttle FV24 motherboard in perfect working condition for sale, please PM me.
There is no external dvd rom slot load that I know. But you can make one yourself very easy. There are two internal dvd rom sloat load that I know:
If you have the room for a regular size rom get the Pioneer 106s and an enclousure of your choise USB or Firewire (www.cableclub).
The other option is a pioneer SR-8185-C. This is a slim dvd rom made for imacs and cubes. The tricky part is to find the adapter that fits right on the back of the rom.
If you have the room you should go for the 106s or do a search in the forum and you will find lots of info about the slim one.
cool..thanks for ya'lls advice
I cant think of any off the top of my head but I've always seen external firewire cd-rws. So I assume there are external dvd-roms.
If anything you can take a notebook dvd rom and use one of those usb converter kits. Just a thought
Mine needs to be updated.
