Analogue inputs into CarPC - eg Batt Volts?

    Hi Guys,

How do I get analogue data into the CarPC setup? I'm planning out the system now so not yet decided on the hardware but I am unlikely to put in an OBDII link since I am not really interested in most of this data.

I am, however, interested in battery voltage for the primary and secondary batteries and would prefer these to appear on the screen instead of on dedicated instruments.

For an industrial setup I would do this through a PLC or RTU but this seems completely overkill just to get some basic levels into a PC.

Is there a simple ADC with serial output option I could use? How do you guys do it, especially for systems with a second battery that isn't visible through the OBDII link?

    Thanks

We build custom boards based on the Rabbit Semiconductor SmartStar system. It's WAY overkill for this.

Modbus interface gets you a couple analogs.

Thanks for that - those Phidgets are *exactly* what I have been looking for but for some reason the old google results weren't coming up with the goods...

    Cheers
