The POST counts RAM before the OS loads. The more RAM you have, the more there is to count and the longer POST will take.
Honestly, you don't need more than 1GB for a vehicle PC.
I'm going to be running a D201GLY in the car and have a 1gb stick and a 2gb stick and wondered how much the different sized ram affected boot time. I'd like it to boot as quick as possible so I'll disable what I can in BIOS, but it will usually count the ram real quick.
I'm going to run Win7 and Centrafuse. Any recommendations?

Depends on what you're doing with it. :-p
But seriously, only put in what you need in it. Chances are it's not more than 1 GB.
Load up all the software you'll ever be using at once and if it's over 1 gb, put the 2gb stick in. Otherwise stick to 1 gig. Less stuff, less to think about, less failure, more speed.

My old machine only had 512mb so I guess 1gb should be adequate then. I just wanted to confirm before hand since once it's in the dash it's a bit tricky to get back out.
I actually have 2 512 sticks and 2 1gb sticks in my other machine and I could steal the 512 for the carpc.
