Again with the "Delete restore data/boot normally" prompt!!

Well, after finally getting WinXP back up and running in the car, I'm getting this problem again!
It powers up from hibernate, the progress bar goes ALL the way across then freezes...
I have to manually restart, plug in a keyboard, and tell it to continue resuming or delete restoration data and boot normally...

Is there any way to bypass this prompt automatically?
Or how 'bout telling XP to not check the data?

It's obviously fine, because I can select to resume from hibernation at the prompt and it starts fine!

I've found that perhaps it has something to do with my USB hub...
I have had issues under Vista, when booting up (always ONLY 1st time in the morning) that it wouldn't 'detect' my hub...
Perhaps XP is expecting the hub, but it's not initializing prior to resuming?

I'm using a M2 to power the hub...

Thinking about it now, I'm powering the M2 from the cig lighter harness. My car, like most newer cars, 'goes to sleep' after some time...power is shut down to most circuits, to prevent battery drain, i.e. if you left your dome light on by mistake, etc...

I wonder, if my car is killing the power to the cig lighter/M2 after a few hours (over night), the M2 isn't powering on properly afterwards, and the hub isn't getting initialized before detection?
This is assuming of course, that there is something weird going on with the M2 when power is removed completely, then restored...

If I set the M2 to 'regular ATX', in which it'll always be powered on (or for as long as the car gives it power), if it would kill my battery before the car goes to 'sleep'? There are 7 devices connected to it, including a DVD drive...

Either that, or connect the power to the M2 straight to the battery of the car...

Stop being lazy WuNgUn and connect the M2 to the battery, lol...... It sounds like some kind of faulty driver. If the M2 wasnt shutting down correctly, then it would tell you that the hibernation point is corrupted and ask you if you want to normal boot. Its odd that it tries to come out of hibernation then freezes.

PS: OK retarded me, I just saw that it does say the restore data prompt...... Your AMPS are running through an AMP kit, why not connect the M2 to that?

I think I wasn't clear maybe...the M2 is powering JUST the hub and the touch screen...
The PC itself is powered seperately from an OPUS 320...lol

The M2 is set to hard-off after 1 minute...same as the OPUS....the PC is hibernating well before then. But I'm wondering maybe the POS M2 is taking too long to power up if the power is removed from it completely, i.e. when the car goes to 'sleep'...
And this is why it's not being picked up when the PC resumes, and this is why it stops resuming (because 7 of the USB devices are missing from when it went into hibernation).

AHHHHHH, I see what you are saying now. Your setup is very similar to mine. Maybe you can adopt my method.

Here is how I have it. Basically the OPUS and the two M4s will all be on the AMP kit. The Opus 320 is in the middle of the car, and the M4 are at the back. From the 12V rail on the OPUS, I have a wire running to a relay in the back which connects to the 12V on the M4. So basically as long as the OPUS are on, the M4 is on. So when you hibernate the 12V line is the last thing to shut off, but when you turn on the car PC its the first thing to turn on. Also I want to add I am using EWF and HORM on the systems that use the M4, so they can turn off and on with the relay. In your case, you wouldnt need a relay, just connect the 12V rail of the OPUS to the ignition on the M2, then have the on constant 12v power.

I think if I have the 'constant on', or ATX mode, if I understand you correctly, on the M2, won't it be on 24/7, so long as the + and - are connected?
In otherwords, in ATX mode, it doesn't matter what state the IGN ON lead is in?

Or are you saying to supply the 12V + to the M2 using the 12V+ lead off the Opus?
Isn't that the same as not even using (or needing) the M2 in the first place??

I think I'm gonna still need a relay connected to the IGN controlling the + to the M2 for ATX mode...

BTW, what the hell is an AMP kit?? lol

    Here a question:
S'pose I power the M2, in ATX mode, from the factory radio harness? This way it power on and off immediately with the car...
HOWEVER, if power is removed from the hub while the PC is going INTO hibernation, is this going to corrupt somehow, the hibernation routine?

Im going to email mini-box.com, I think you can do it the way I am saying. Let me confirm with them.

    It will cause issues.

    Good luck with the email
I'm pretty sure you can power the M2 from another PSU's (OPUS) 12V rail, but then what's the point of even having the M2, if I'm going to essentially power my monitor and hub from the OPUS (assuming I also use the 5V rail for the hub)?

Update: Started up the car first thing this morning for my coffee run, and it started fine this time!!

I remember earlier in the spring, this would happen, but only seem to happen on cold mornings...
I did however, move my USB connections around at the PC...more testing is needed I think
