Just hook it into one of the fan connector pins on your motherboard. They do temperature and speed control.
Hi,
I just purchased a Server case fan thinking that I wouldn't hear it as it would be in my boot. I was very wrong. It is very load.
So is there a way to keep it turned of or at low speeds until it reaches a certain temperature, then it runs at high speed until temperature is down again.
Thanks
JM

I've done that, it is still running at about 4000rpm.
It could be that your mobo doesn't do automatic temperature/fan control. Try this out.

EDIT: A link to the fan you bought wouldn't hurt either.
haha, good ol' speedfan. I actually do have this, I just use it to monitor stuff XD. Never really understood how to control fans with it though, but I well def give it tommorow before I drive to work :P
Thanks
lol, didn't the name clue you in as to what it might do? Ahh computer people... so silly.![]()
haha, I'm not quite that stupid, I do know what it's main purpose is. It is also a good accurate, lightweight way to monitor sensors.
Yeah, that's pretty much all I use it for these days as well. What kind of fan did you buy and what motherboard do you have?

very noisey XD
According to the specs on that link, that fan does not have the 3rd wire required to sense the RPM. Does it have 2 wires or 3?
EDIT: And it looks like there are multiple versions of this fan. Does yours have one connector or 2? Looks like regardless of which version you have, they should have 3 wires total, red, black, and blue (pictures show blue, weird). Yes?
