I'm still interested in a possible answer to Killbox's question. I have a PCR and am interested in the Toslink out mod. Can the output be purchased anywhere?
i second the suggestion. i had annoying whine and static until i hooked up a ground loop isolator between my XMPCR's audio out and my computer's line in. perfectly clear. didn't work between my computer and my stereo's aux in, but then again i had no ground loop issues playing mp3s or video straight from my computer. the audio signal between the computer and usb powered XMPCR is asking for problems.
sure, the Toslink mod will be clear as well since it's output is digital and i guess doesn't succumb to ground loop noise, but with a ground loop isolator, I can't imagine Toslink to be that much better than regular line-out signal, especially with satellite radio quality to begin with. i betcha a lot of people who went the Toslink mod may not have had to.
also, i still had some additional faint noise after the isolator that turned out to be my usb hub. once i plugged it directly to my computer, it went away.
