you should be able to enable/disable pci in your bios. Is it possible that when you updated your bios, it was disabled as default?
Was hoping you guys could shed some light on this issue. I have an ECS Goal3+ GS7610 ULTRA (V1.1C) mobo. Shown here. I recently reinstalled WinXP SP2 on a fresh, brand new HD. I updated the BIOS to the most current and everything went smoothly, until Windows booted and my SparkLAN MIMO WPIR-300 Wireless PCI card and Soundblaster Live! 5.1 PCI Audio card weren't recognized as new hardware by Windows. I tried loading drivers to them manually but Windows doesn't even see that they've been installed so that's a no go. I've tried resetting the CMOS on the mobo and got into the BIOS to overclock the CPU and such but theres nothing really pertaining to resetting the PCI slots... I've tried booting the PC without the cards physically installed and then making sure nothing shows up in the Device Manager for the slots, then shutting down, physically installing the cards again, and still no go. Any thoughts? I need my sound and internet!!! I'm pretty sure it's a BIOS issue but not sure what or where to change a setting.

ECS =(In my opinion)
First of all, PCI in the car can be problematic, as the cards can come dislodged from bumps and vibration from driving. IF you're using a case with a means of locking PCI cards in place, then you're better off. If you're not using a case, I'd look for USB solutions instead of PCI in order to prevent cards wiggling loose while driving.
Second, I sincerely hope you haven't installed in the car yet. If you're at this stage, you really should be testing everything on a bench at home (or work or the laboratory or wherever).
Have you installed the "official" chip set drivers from the vendor website?

csfile: Yes, it is very well possible that when I updated the BIOS it disabled the PCI slots, but I can't find anywhere in the settings how to enable them...
DP: Yes, I am bench testing before installing it in my car. I'm using a good case and will figure out a way to secure the PCI card. When this system goes into my ride it will only have the sound card and not the Wireless LAN card. I'll be using a USB solution for wireless at that time.
PaulF: Yes, I downloaded the "official" drivers straight from ECS's website.
I'll go get into the BIOS again and toggle whatever mentions PCI and see what happens.
Changed some BIOS settings and they're working now. I just didn't want to mess up my BIOS too much. Thanks.
