I can understand the confusion. It certainly is illegal to sell new television receivers with NTSC only.
I just tried to buy a digital camera on line from China. The seller told me I could not use it now because NTSC would no longer work in the US after June 12th.
I tried to explain that the government did not confiscate all the receivers, they only switched the transmitters to digital.
He seems to think it would be illegal for him to sell the cameras in the US.
What a dunce.!.

Don't know what a digital camera has in common with the digital transmission of the NTSC signal. If you shoot a video it is digital, when you watch it on the TV you plug it in and is transmitted digital.![]()
Rear view camera, not snapshot.
Yes, but the output from the camera is Composite Video and for some reason he didnt understand that before and after June 12th there was no change in my monitor. It didnt have anything to do with my monitor.
um, composite video still uses the ntsc standard...
it is crazy how many people didn't/don't understand the digital conversion--my area(chicago) had the highest amount of calls to the fcc's conversion hotline, and some of the local tv stations are still broadcasting a how-to on how to hook up the converter box.
oh well, he is loosing out to alot of sales.
I finally convinced the guy to sell it to me. Its on the way.
I asked him if he was just going to throw them away and if so would he pack up as many as would fit in a box for $50 postage and I would take them off his hands....![]()
