Nice install. And even nicer car.. mmmm Infiniti.. makes me all warm inside
Very clean.. I really want one of those indash displays.. makes everything look so clean.
Ok a lot of you have been asking for pix of my computer setup. I got the computer semi-finalized (still the second wireless connection is not in,) updated, and installed.
There are pix available here: http://www.citrano.com/car/pix/i30.html
You can see the basic setup and components.
NOTE: Some of the exterior pix are from last fall, I have since removed the pinstripe, but that's about it.
I managed to almost completely drain my YellowTop today testing the computer -- so I had to run it off house current for a while until the YellowTop got back up to a level where the inverter would turn back on. Wow. Now I know the YellowTop does have a limit...
I finally diagnosed the "bump" problem. Some of you remember when I hit a bump the computer would re-boot. I was blaming the disk drive. I took the computer inside and opened it up and basically ran Winamp and started tapping and vibrating each component. I found to my surprise that it was actually one of my DIMMs that was hopelessly loose in any slot. It just wasn't fitting on the motherboard right. So, I replaced the DIMM with one that fits very tightly and now the thing can take some abuse. No more bump/reboots yet.
I also managed to super glue my fingers together, working on the CRAPPY dash piece, OH how it bugs me. Oh well all is cool now and things are working.
Hope you enjoy the pix.

acitrano, how did u fit the case in the trunk ......... how is it fastened?
and what is all that V1 stuff?
otherwise its a nice clean setup
those I30 babies are fast!
That's a reason why I'll be applying a tiny amount of holt-melt glue to the side edges of the mem and cache dimms. I figure anything that's not bolted in can shake loose. Just have to watch you don't melt anything with the glue.
Nice car and setup, citrano.
P4 2.4GHz, Intel mobo w/onboard sound & video, 128MB memory, 100GB Seagate Momentus laptop drive, Xenarc 700TSV 7" touchscreen, IRman using Girder, 150W Opus dc/dc psu, Alpine CDA-9835 h/u, MBQuart speakers, Infinity 15" sub, MTX amps.
Thanks. I have two things on my radar screen next: a custom enclosure for the computer (with dc/dc power supply) and hopefully a re-mount of it in the rear of the trunk. Then a new, cooler looking keyboard arrangement. KB looks a lil tacky maybe?Originally posted by Caviar:

The computer is bolted to the rear deck with L-brackets. I drilled holes in the case, insulated them with some rubber grommets and lock washers, and bolted the L brackets on. Then I just fastened the L-brackets to the rear deck with steel screws.
The V1 is a concealed radar location system.
Whoah, Its like Dejavu, you got the same Exact case as my main computer.
You didn't happen to buy that from a company named DeeOneSystems, did you?
