mounted case then a case of alternator whine

How is it that I didnt have any alternator whine before while everything was testing everything with the voom pc case sitting on the rug of the trunk but now that its mounted in the trunk I have nasty alternator whine. is it because of the cases being bolted to the trunk and the case is becoming a second grounding point?

stands a good chance. it happened when i had my amp on my floor, it would slide to the side of the boot. - its now screwed to the sub box... n problem solved...

have you tried bolting a piece of wood to the trunk and then the case to the wood? - no no metal on metal touch

    ps...
or anyother idea get some little rubber grommets / washers either side of the case / bolt... [so the bolt doesnt actually touch the case, just the rubber...]

seems like you are creating a ground loop. Unscrew your pc from the car and mount a piece of wood ply and then mount the pc on that with screws that wont reach to the metal...
my car pc setup and amp is not touching the car frame ...no noise.....i do get noise from the a/c blower fan when its on cause I have to move the power wire for the pc from near it..
