    Wom / wor / wol

ok, after smashing my power board for the power button yesterday im exploring alternatives before wrecking my motherboard so...

Wake on Ring / Wake on Modem
    Wake on LAN
    Wake on Link

HOW can i use one of these methods to power the laptop with the push of a button [or three] / 4 / 5...

is it simply just sticking a RJ11 in and shorting some of the wires on the RJ11?

same with WOL... i know in creating a loop back i can Wake on Link with ethernet, but this will only bring from standby ? not hibernation? correct...

i wanna get this sorted asap really - since to turn on the pc i now use a screw driver to short two little [very tiny] bits of solder on the mobo

i have googled, searched and everything, i have found out a com port handshake thing but i dont think that will do it?...

    THANKS!

ok after googling for the past 8 or nine hours ive found this...

    http://www.governmentsecurity.org/fo...&mode=threaded

from reading his plan i believe he wants to do the same thing as i wish to do - wake a computer via a modem...

so he says he can supply a constant pulse to ring the modem... would me just connecting a 5 volt source between the two pins on a rj11 wake the laptop ? or does it need a more complicated approach, im guessing complicated since there are now straight answers in the forum about this... - other than a com port - which for some reason i dont have on my laptop im using - even though i believed i did ? :S
