    Is my CMOS battery dying?

I have my PC in the house, installing all that I have to install. I notice though when i first turned it on, the date was wrong. I fixed it, then thats it. Yesterday I noticed the PC fell behind in time. I fixed it, then turned on the PC today. It was about 5 hours behind. Is this a result of my CMOS battery dying? If yes, aren't these things supposed to last a long time? What sucks is that the CMOS battery is in a special casing with 2 wires sticking out of it that go to the mobo. All I have to do is change the battery and maybe use electrical tape, or is there a universal replacement I can buy? I also notice that when the time gets funky, my Windows will go back to regular XP skin, but if I restart, it will load up the classic skin, which I am using. Any help would be appreciated!

Show us a picture? The batteries I am used to seeing are coin cells like the CR2024, easy to change with no tape or solder.

See the USB ports? That little blue thingy is the RC2032 battery, it looks like its shrink wrapped with two wires coming out then connecting to the board.

Right, I suggest a local computer shop for a replacement....

If you are adventurous, un plug the battery, disassemble it and put it back together with a new battery inside, Shrink wrap or electrical tape should work.

Well, I thought it was stupid for them to use that type of way to put the CMOS battery on the board. I guess they did it to save space on the board. I decided to make one I can change anytime the d@mn thing dies. Here is the new holder I made. I had a broken mobo and took the battery holder off that one. Here are pix.

Sweet, be sure to insulate the tabs and battery to avoid a surprise connection

Yea I am going to try to make something. I have some covers from the terminals I used to do my 0 gauge install. I have one left over, so I will see if it slips over.

I replaced the battery and for the first day it still displayed the wrong time. The second day the time was perfect. Today though the time was all messed up again. Could it be damage to my MoBo? I replaced it with a new battery. Maybe my new battery holder isnt setup right. I am going to try to buy the exact same thing.
