    Is the Panasonic CW-8124-B still the best choice...

    ...for a non DVD RW, slim, slot load?
    Some places I've read a slim to IDE adapter is required for the Mini-ITX mobos, is this true?

    Yes, you would need a atapi-IDE adapter. The atapi connector on the back will not work with any standalone board

    Ok, I have a feeling I have way to many USB devices as it is so I'm going to go the IDE route.

    What about my first question? Is this still a good choice for a non DVD burning, slim, slot load DVD player?

    i think it should work fine-- as far as i know, there really isn't any quality difference between this drive or any other slim slot load drive on the market.

    i have the dvd version and have not had any problems with the drive.
