Are CF cards speedy enough for Windows XP?
NO. Not quite there yet, but they are coming close to being capable. Bear in mind that the fastest Compact Flash cards are very expensive, and run approximately 30-35MB per second maximum throughput. If you were to raid0 two together, the read/write speeds will approach that of a typical mid range hard drive.
So essentially, you're better off buying a VelociRaptor 10,000 rpm.
If you want top speed without a spinning platter, use an solid state disk (SSD).
