i've busted a few scorpio's in my car too in the past. I dont trust them anymore. How do you have it mounted? Is it close to any large speakers or vibration sources? A little more detail is needed here
Hello,
Just build a system with a
M300 universal chassi
ZOTAC IONITX Intel Atom N330 Dual Core without power supply
M3 ATX Power supply
Bought a 160 GB WD Scorpio Blue harddrive that broke (started to make a warning noise when booting up, and the system cannot find it anylonger).
Got a new one on warranty, but didnt want to wait for it to be shipped, so bought a similiar but a 250GB instead in another shop.
It has worked fantastic until yesterday.. Now that one is broke also! (2 weeks max).
Anyone has any idea what is wrong and how i can adress this?

It is mounted in the trunk on the side of the wall, hanging.
Nothing like speakers or so in the near of it.
I need to clarify one thing.
The FIRST WD Scorpio broke before i mounted my system in my car.
I installed my system using a AC to DC 12 laptop adapter.
Took it to my car to install it there, and the HD didnt start.
It was never fastented in the car.
The second drive broken when the PC was installed in the car.
try a seagate. seriously... everytime i try a wd drive, i have some of the weirdest issues-- loonng slow boots, bsod's for no reason(on fresh installs), slow performance-- even in my stationary home computer...
note: i don't want to start a "this brand is better than that brand" war, i am posting what i have experienced with wd drives.
Attached to the sidewall. Fixed with screwes in the holes of the chassi.
But that doesnt really matter since the first disc broke before i got the PC in the car.
Anyone had any problems with the M3 ATX to destroy their hard drives?
i cant see how the power supply would destroy your harddrive

not sure if this is related to your hard drive problem, but the m3 definitely does not have enough power on the 5v to power that setup. Check around the forum, there has been a few posts about it.
