Should I use an internal hard drive or an external usb hard drive?

external is more flexible u can take it in and out, but probably a bit slower.
it all depends on what you're planning to do with it.

possibly, but from the posts i have read on the subject, it seems that it can be a little troublesome to get the CF card to work properly sometimes.

i prefer to just go with sata drives- either internal sata, or external e-sata. much faster than ide, and usb...

Typically, no. They are about the same as an IDE drive.
THEORETICALLY, the specs would make it appear to be a faster option, but in the real world, they aren't.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
