I recently bought a homemade touch screen and the power connection is through a wire marked negative and one marked as positive, would this be possible for me to test by plugging it into an old computer power supply somehow?
Sorry if this is a dumb question, I tried searching but I wasn't exactly sure how to word the problem right.
yes this is pefectally possible you would need to know if it was 12v or 5v, by looking at the invertors user manuel you should be able to work that out

If it runs on 12 volts which it most likely will, yellow wires on a computer power supply are +12v. The black wire right near it in a hard drive connector would be the negative. For 5 volts, look to the red wire and the black wire right near it.
