if you want to customize the device descripters, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE FTDI's PID. PEROID!!!
its not open to arguing with you. i was EVERYTIME i requested permission to have the drivers signed, FTDI SAID to make sure all FTDI pids are removed

    anyway...
    MAC

    http://www.ftdichip.com/Documents/Ap...or_MAC_OSX.pdf

    http://www.ftdichip.com/Documents/Te...c%20Driver.pdf

I requested FTDI. to build me custom MAC Drivers... might take a few days

malcom you need to keep your mouth shut, you DONT HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT MY PLANS ARE... I TOLD YOU TO BE PATIENT, clearly that isnt something you can do...
I also said reverse, since its a good way to get the info you need, with out anyone providing it to you

if you want to make a serial device, and not alter the device descriptors, you can use FTDI's PIDS...

but then its a just a "USB Serial Port" device in device manager or what ever thier default is, i forget

i can remember my XM PCR, it was left generic, and said "USB Serial Port (Com x)" and l never knew if it was my usb->rs232 dongle
or the XMPCR... I want something a littler better than that...
I would love to have my own VID... but the USB IF people want at least $2000
    -Thanks

Being as the device descriptors in the unit I received are the exact same as the ones in any other FTDI chip I've seen, the descriptors have not been changed. Perhaps you are planning on changing them in the future, however you can't get angry at me for that.

Lol... oh no, I need to keep my mouth shut. I can guaranty that saying something like that (completely unprofessional...) is only going to make me try harder. And no... I don't know what your plans are. So no use getting angry at me for making my own plans because you don't let us know your plans. My plans are to make this radio as open source as humanly possible, and release as much information as I can possibly find. If that conflicts with what you are doing, feel free to let me know in a civil and polite manner, however don't expect me to change what I'm doing, especially if you come at me with that kind of an attitude. If you don't like what I'm saying, you don't have to respond. No need to yell at me.

As for being patient... if I were patient I'd never get anything done .

I do appreciate the OSX links though.

Of course. I figured you were under some kind of NDA, hence the "no shock there" in relation to the non-release of the protocol. I was obligated to ask. I'm not entirely unfamiliar with contract work.

the device decriptors are QUITE changed

    proof is in the picture
    and the .inf file
and the EEPROM of the device

you may have a prototype... do you have end plastics on your case?

Sorry, my bad I didn't look deep enough. You changed the interface description text to read "MP3Car.com HD Radio Interface" instead of "FT232R USB UART" and lowered the max power from 90mA to 50mA. I wouldn't call that "QUITE" changed... infact I'd call that less of a descriptor change than a technicality. The communication channels and overall functionality did not change... but we're arguing semantics here.

For what it's worth, by editing the inf file, I can get mine to say "Silly Radio Box!" since the text you see in device manager comes from the .inf file, not the device itself.

And what do you mean end plastics? It looks exactly like the unit in the mp3car store picture.

you cannot EDIT .inf files on WINDOWS OSes
they are digitially signed (A REALLY SMART THING)
MS put thier foot down, to poorly written drivers
all drivers must be WHQL and signed, for x64 os and ALL servers OS
and warnings will be given on x86 os(for now)

ok, u got a real one, just wondering, the decriptor is changed... peroid, and a .inf file is change, therfore you MUST use your OWN PIDS, you cannot use FTDI's. I told you this isnt open to arguement, its thier rules
