Each XM unit has a code. You have to call them once you get it all hooked up to an antenna and have them activate it in thier system. Then you leave it on for a little while and it picks up the activation signal from the satalite and you are all set.

Not only that, but you could write some software to look for the songs you want to record, then automatically record them once they come on, rip them to mp3, and fill in the ID3 tags.... that would be epic.
Also, adding all of that functionality into media engine would be great.

I'm sold on the amount for the reciever...It's the monthly fee that I still don't like. I wish they would do a Promo for like $99 a year...

It has a "favorite artist" it flashes a warning when a channel is playing it. So that makes it a lot easier for you to track your fav songs.

The antena is kind of bulky, i wonder if we could use one of the other car antenas link )with the pc receiver. Does anyone know how does the signal gets from the antena to the receiver is it radio? what if I put the receiver under the seat... would it still get the info from the antena?
I do not like the montly fee either!! maybe we can be a "family" and get the dicounted rate

1. An antenna under the seat would only work when you are near a terrestrial based transmitter, so only in selected cities.
2. To qualify for the family plan you must have been 3-5 radios. We would max out that pretty quick.
