And I'm not sure OBD would really be the way to go.. I'm not sure on the update rate of OBD2, but it might not be 'smooth' enough for good looking guages. I'm thinking a/d modules from the existing guage signals would give better results.
I drive an American car though. With the CF3 OBD2 Plugin, almost all the functions come up as active. Speed, and a bunch of otehr stuff. Oh you mean the smoothness. Would it be hard to do what your suggesting?

My guess is that the whole console is a mini computer. Why... ODB is not fast enough in any protocols to give the needed information fast enough.
You need a very fast and accurate RPM. EVERY attempt at a speed and RPM display I've seen, have latency, and RPM peaks that if true, would have made the engine explode.

So, unless Honda have come up with a new extremely fast ODB protocol, I do not see this being done with ODB.

So what route do you guys recommend?

First, as far as blind - I've never even seen the adult forum on these boards...so...there's that.

Second, Leave it to ZX to come up with something new to rip into!

Third, <3 my Honda. Ooh, my stir fry is done BRB!

i have an 01 dakota manual gauge cluster if you dont need the miles gauge...

i think you had a durango right? it should be work-able?

edit: by miles gauge i mean the total miles led display in the lower left had corner

also, if you use the pins for the gauge cluster for the gauge info, wouldnt it update faster and be cheaper for those of us with slower obd2 readers

I actually am starting to have second thoughts about it. I really do not want to have to start coding from scratch, since I am not good at that at all. I am thinking of updating the gauges so they dont show black, but instead white ones.

My new idea is to create a bar along the top of my windshield that holds my 10.2 screen and the tmps screen. I want to wind a fabricator that will compine the 2 together to be one piece. It will be directly infront of me and allow me to see everything with out taking my eyes off the road. It will require reinforcement of my roof, but shouldnt be to hard.

I have tried that before and there always seems to be a slight difference with the stuff with the Durango and Dakota. It miner, but enough to bug me, lol. I am going to keep what I have, I really do not want to open up a can of worms. If I had more knowledge on programming, I would try it, but because I dont, I do not want to go there. Also the fact is, OBD2 is sometimes laggy. It isnt all the time, but enough that the gauges would be jerky sometimes. Any other solution, like you mention is way out of my scope!

I just replied in your other thread, but I forgot a big point:

Do you actually trust a PC with the task of displaying your gauges? PCs are unreliable at best, and with startup times it would be a pain. Any update could theoretically cripple your tachometer!

I agree.... There are way to many cons popping up. The only pro is that the gauges will be digital, other then that to many bad things can happen. Plus I do want to track my car.... i have become interested in auto cross and time attack, so I want to get my setup in and start on that. I want reliable readings.

This is where someone should chime in with one of those Sheeva Plug thingies. I feel like there shouldn't be a real "startup time" to a simple linux system... you could use that to control ONLY the gauges... that would be badass!

The problems with sheeva or arduino would be the graphics performance (or lack there of).
