    VGA cable shorting PC?

I've read several posts about something similar to this but not quite at the same time and none of those suggestions seem to help.

My PC works beautifully on a desktop ATX PSU. In the truck the computer seems to boot properly when the monitor is not attached but as soon as I attach it the CPU fan spins then quits over and over again.

My guess is it's either the power or ground going to/coming from the monitor but I checked all of my connections and everything seems fine but, I'm not sure exactly how to test everything.

I have an OPSU 360W PSU so I have lots of power.

    UPDATE:
To eliminate some possibilities I connected just the power to the monitor and turned on my truck. Everything works as normal, so I tried connected the VGA cable to the monitor while the PC was running and the PC instantly shut off. I know there's a short somewhere, I just can't see where or how to fix it.

it sounds like you have eliminated everything but the monitor-- would it be possible to try it on a different computer?

In an awkward round-about way that involved a 12V AC-DC brick and a spoon (don't ask), I managed to test in with my laptop and it worked perfectly fine.

What in my truck could be causing the short?

None being used. I'm using the exact same cable in the truck as I tried in the house.

Haha. I'll accept your question and use it as a bump.

My touchscreen is molded (kind of) into my bezel from the truck and the way I put it together plus the fact that I didn't want to crimp the AC-DC power supply to my monitor power wires, the only way I could put it together was face down. If I moved it the wires probably would have come loose. Needless to say I couldn't find a small mirror but have very shiny spoons. Everything was upside down and circus mirror like but the monitor did work from my laptop.

    UPDATE:
I brought the entire PC into the house to check and it works fine on my regular LCD monitor so I connected the touchscreen to the truckputer inside and it works fine. What gives?

It sounds like drawing too much power and reboot cycling, when i am doing updates in my driveway with engine not running i need to connect charger on 10amps to keep from reboot cycle. Can you power monitor via lighter socket and connect vga to comp? SNO
