Mounting Idea

Any suggestions for mounting my VIA EIPA system in here? I think I will mount it with the cubby thing in there. I will probably create a cover to cover it up. What type of material should I use to create the cover?

In the General Discussion i think there is a post on fiberglassing, that would be the best solution i think, you could form it to your own shape, make it look stock, and just all around very professional. The tutorials in that post are great. What is the dimentions of that well you took out? that would help anyone with suggestions.

Its 7in deep, 5 wide at the smaller spot, and 10in wide at the bigger spot.

How tall? thats definatly big enough for the motherboard + powersupply + harddrive...you probably want to get a firewire or usb2.0 box and run the dvd player somewhere up front for easy access. I would also put a fan or two in there to keep it cool.

I think fiberglass is the way to go for the top. You can probably get some 1/2 inch plexiglass at a local hardware shop to make a mounting plate to go in the 10 inch place, then go from there. you could also just make a flip cover out of the plexi if there is enough room...but i think you will want to build it up a little with fiberglass so you have a ton of room.

Should I just screw everything into that cubby? Or should I mount it on wood because of the carpet. Also I have nooo experience with this fiberglass or plexy. I did a search and am trying to figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.

you could make a wood piece that fits the shape of the cutout, and cover it with carpet.

Then take your computer and screw it to the back of the wood piece you just made...

Many different ways to go.

Thats a great idea, Thanks. I guess I will then have to screw that wood piece to my car, unless any one has another idea.

Actually I was not sure what that little box (cubby hole) was made of, but I was thinking you could stuff the matching wood piece into that cubby hole...maybe a screw from the back of the box to the piece of wood...or use gravity...velcro...chewing gum

so that your computer setup was in one package and you could work on it easier,

then when you stick it in the car, it just attaches normally to the car.

It's plastic, that was my exact idea. So I guess I'll do it. I can even make matching fan vents, ooo how fun. Now If i could just buy everything I need.
