    Issues with Boomzbox

I got my boomzbox hooked up tonight in my 09 F150 and am having some issues with sound quality. First, there is a moderately high pitched whine that increases with playback volume. It is easiest to detect by running the standalone application, pressing the mute button, and then cranking up playback. The second issue is that when tuned to a station, there are frequent tinnish pops in the playback. I only experience these issues with the boomzbox. I also have mitchjs's sirius box, and have no issues. Any ideas?

Boomzbox is USB audio, so you shouldn't have interference issues associated with the cable between the Boomzbox and the computer. That means the interference must be coming down the antenna wire or is introduced in the power supply or thereabouts.

Just to confirm - you have NO interference noise when playing an mp3 or anything besides the Boozbox?

Ping Mitch on this. Hopefully he will show up and answer this post.

Yeah, only noise I get is when I playback using the boomzbox. Normal MP3 and sat radio are noise free. My computer is mounted on the back of the cab and the boomzbox is mounted in my dash behind my Liliput, so unless the LCD is causing the interference, I'm not sure what else it could be. The SC-C1 tuner is right next to it, and it is fine. The adapter boxes for both the boomzbox and sirius are mounted no more than a couple feet away underneath my steering wheel.

Has anyone tried launching the standalone player, muting, and then cranking up the volume to see if there is whine? I get whine in Centrafuse as well, but it's not as easy to perceive when the playback isn't muted.

does the high pitched noise, change with RPM?

    my guess is NO
if it what im thinking of
now, i have "heard" this noise once before, on a prototype usb audio device i built
i could never figure out where its was coming from, concluded inside the TI PCM2900 chip... tossed the board into the trash, and got another one, exactly the same build.. and no noise... the funny thing is, tons usb audio devices and a i never had another one do it... maybe till now

so... it might be that... in this case exchange usb interface
contact stephen, at mp3car.com, and lets arrange exchange..

No, engine rpm doesn't affect the noise, and it is present whether or not the engine is running.

I tried a number of things tonight, and wasn't able to get the noise to go away. First I removed power from my touchscreen so nothing near the tuner was pulling current. Still buzzed. Next, I hooked up the USB box to my laptop to see if the noise persisted. It did, but it wasn't as pronounced (not as much amplification). Next, I removed the factory antenna. Same deal. Lastly, while the player was muted, I disconnected the interface cable from the USB box, and the whine still didn't go away. I'm linking a sound clip of the noise I recorded with my phone. Use VLC to play it back.

Does anyone have Stephen's direct contact information? If so, could you PM it to me? I'm having trouble getting the store to respond to my messages (form and phone).
