Since a touchscreen is way too expensive for me, I decided to buy a PalmIII -$25- off ebay and use it to control winmap(freeware).

PalmAmp 2.0 is the software used to turn your palm into a winamp controller.

So here is probably the cheapest way to add touchscreen control to your carputer

Interesting, but I say make a list of progs and apps that you plan to use and make a note to yourself as to if it is worth it to invest in a touch screen.

So far only PalmAmp2
but i'm trying very hard to find software that controls windows, convert the touchscrn to a touch mouse pad, remote IR controller. But if i only use PalmAmp2, it would be a great investment for me. I want to get/build a wireless serial reciever for it.

The biggest goal for my carputer is to intergrate all passengers with my carputer. I want them to pass around the pda and explore my mp3s. Much like a family shares a remote control in the living room.

This guy built an App for Palm called "Cantante". Palm applet used to control Cantante through a Palm Computing Device (using a custom serial RF transmitter that attaches to the Palm's butt-plug) Link :here

Also you could try Win-Hand:here
(claims 45 times faster than PalmVNC)

You could also use an IR keyboard reciever to clone the keystrokes from the keyboard and build a touch panel with OmniRemote, this will let you pass the PDA around the car but it will not let you see whats playing. Check out my this old thread and look under Loftus:

Usually in these cases, I switch the server-stored images for pornography or something, but I really can't be arsed in this case. Consider this a manual LART.

I'd say one thing. If I had thought about using this APP I wouldn't now after that post.I don't think anyone thought he wrote the app well I didn't. Seeing how I have a PocketPC instead of a Palm *ho hum*

wow... cheery fellow... perhaps someone should like to 50 or 60 of his images, he cant change them all that fast...

and to clear things up... he never claimed to come up with this app. all he said that he was using it as an option to buying a pricey touchscreen kit.

if your going to be bent out of shape for this, you need to examine your stress level. sheesh!!!
